Working Out Your Daily Schedule

Use your weekly plans as a guide to set your schedule for each day. Say you are concerned with personal sales only and you know you have to spend about 7 hours for each sales party you organize. If you want to put on two parties a week, that means spending about 14 hours a week or about 3 hours a day (2 parties x 7 hours each = 14 hours a week or 2 hours a day if you do some work everyday; about 3 hours a day if you put in just five days). Or if you are selling a big-ticket item directly, you can likewise plan how much time you need to spend on the average for each sale.

Similarly, if you are building a sales network, plan how much time to devote to that. For example, suppose you know that to attain your goal of one active distributor every two weeks, you have to spend ten hours a week prospecting and ten hours a week working with your active distributors. If you work five days a week, that averages out to approximately two hours a day prospecting and two hours a day working with active distributors. You can vary the exact amount per day, but to achieve your long-term goals, you know you must spend about four hours working each day.

Thus, at the beginning of each week, whatever your particular marketing approach, sketch out your overall schedule. Then, at the end of your workday or before you go to bed each night, write out your 'to-do list' for the following day, and indicate your priorities by numbering each item from one (very important) to five (not very important). Also, note the estimated time you need to perform each task, and roughly schedule when you plan to do what, In addition to your scheduled appointments.

If you can't do everything, accomplish the most important activities first, and transfer what you haven't done to a subsequent day, or perhaps drop an item entirely. As you complete each activity, check it off.

This daily planning system is not only ideal for keeping you organized and on target; you also can use it as a record for tax purposes to show how much time you have spent on various business activities.
