The 5.5 -acre grounds surrounding this rambling two-story inn are 4 and wonderfully pastoral-enough so that it’s easy to forget that Anita Racetrack is across the street. Rose gardens, Italian foun waterfalls cascading into rocky grottoes, stately trees that change color with the seasons, and perfectly manicured lawns also make it easy to forget that the peaceful inn is situated right off busy Huntington Drive.
The large and elegant rooms, most of which face away from the street traffic noise, are casually decorated with European furnishings such as sturdy armoires and brass beds, fire-places, and fabric-covered valances.
Curiously, racetrack photos in some rooms go a long way toward canceling the overall charm. However, judging from the number of horse trailers in the hotel parking lot, this inn does attract an equestrian crowd. Guests have free run of the grounds, including an outdoor heated pool and a Jacuzzi, which are surrounded by giant rocks with cascading waters. Friendly staffers at the front desk are happy to direct you to nearby eateries.
