Dear Pre-Paid Legal,

My wife and I recently had the opportunity to once again use our Pre-Paid Legal membership - this time it was a civil lawsuit covered by our Title 3 benefits. We were involved in a landlord -tenant dispute of a serious nature. Both parties were suing the other, although we felt we were truly innocent victims.

This case involved serious accusations and issues such as contamination to exposed asbestos, threats to steal personal property, breach of lease guarantees, etc. In the end, many parties were involved, the local police department, [a large metropolitan municipality's asbestos control unit], lawyers, [the municipality's] License and Inspection (License Issuance De-partment and Building Permits Department), and so on. The case was time consuming, frustrating, costly and totally unnecessary.

While our landlord was cited by the [city] with violations for performing demolition work without any building permits, renting property without a license, improper asbestos removal, they nevertheless, also initiated a civil suit against us. This whole dispute got pretty ugly when the lawyer for the landlord wrote us a letter threatening to sue us for $100,000 and wrote a separate letter giving us a 10-day eviction notice. Whoever coined the phrase "if you don't know your rights, you don't have any," was right on the money.

At the earliest hint of problems, I contacted our Provider Law Firm, Welch, Gold and Siegel, who began advising and coaching us through this whole ordeal. Specifically, I would like to thank [the lawyers] who initially handled our case. They acted in the utmost professional way imaginable and went above and beyond the call of duty in their performance. Their accuracy of facts and procedures and recommended countermeasures were unbelievably spot-on. Everything they said that would or would not happen, came true.

Under Title I, we used three out of the four benefits offered. We received hours and hours of advice over the telephone, we had our lease reviewed with precision, and we had a letter written to our landlord. The cost for these services alone is estimated to be around $1,200. Ultimately, since my wife and I were sued by our landlord, we had to go to court where, thankfully, we were able to use our Title 3 benefits. Our case was referred to the New Jersey Provider Law Firm of Mattleman, Weinroth and Miller where [a lawyer] was assigned to our case. My guess is that [he] probably spent about eight hours of pretrial time and two to three hours of trial time to litigate our case. This comes to about $1,500 for a total cost of $2,700 that we would have paid a non Pre-Paid Legal lawyer.

The results: we won the case! I know many times you only hear from members when they are dissatisfied with the service and this can get discouraging and disheartening for Pre-Paid Legal and the lawyers. Well, we are writing this letter not to complain but to give many well deserved kudos to [the staff] at Welch, Gold and Siegal and especially, [the lawyer] at Mattleman, Weinroth and Miller. From the first phone call with [him], to a personal meeting at his office, and finally to his presence in the court room, and everything in between, his performance was nothing short of amazingand perfection. He has the unique ability to gain your immediate respect and confidence by virtue of his vast knowledge of these types of cases and through his own self confidence. Finally, he has an uncanny ability knowing what is really in the best interest of his client legally, to convey his message without offending you. I guess you might say his communication skills need no refinement. He is indeed a credit to Mattleman, Weinroth and Miller and Pre-Paid Legal Services", Inc.

In closing, we would like to thank everyone involved in assisting us with this case. This is probably about our eighteenth time to use our service in the last 18 months we've had Pre-Paid.
