Your DSL Connection

Your new SBC Yahoo! DSL service utilizes DSL modem technology to establish and maintain your high-speed connection to the Internet. With this technology the modem, rather than your computer, is used to maintain your Internet connection.

SBC Self Support Tool

As part of your SBC Yahoo! DSL service installation, a new tool was installed on your computer. This tool helps troubleshoot and repair common problems that might occur with your DSL connection in addition to assisting with email setup and support. If a problem with your DSL connection is detected, the SBC Self Support Tool will alert you of the issue and will offeryou the option to diagnose the problem and, in some cases, repair the issue without the need to contact technical support.

Important information regarding your SBC Yahoo! DSL password

Your SBC Yahoo! DSL password works across your entire SBC Yahoo! account. The same password is valid not only for your SBC Yahoo! DSL connection, but also for SBC Yahoo! Mail, SBC Yahoo! Messenger, My SBC Yahoo!, SBC Yahoo! Finance, and all of SBC Yahool's other personalized services. If for some reason your password is changed, you will need to update that password stored within your DSL modem as well.

To update the password on your DSL Modem using the SBC Self Support Tool, select the "Utilities" link located in the left hand navigation menu, then select the option to "Change Local PPPoE Password on the Modem" and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you have uninstalled the SBC Self Support Tool and need to update the password stored in your Efficient 5100 DSL Modem, please follow the instructions below:

1. Open your web browser. Enter http://192.168.0.1 in the web browser's address field. Press the Enter key
2. Click the "Advanced" button (found on the left hand side of the screen)
3. Click the "Connection Configuration" button (located in the menu selection below the "Advanced" button)
4. If prompted, enter the Access Code found on the bottom of your modem.
5. Enter your password as instructed on the "Connection Configuration" screen.
6. Click "Save Changes" (found at bottom of screen)
7. Click to "Restart" when prompted. The modem may take up to 60 seconds to restart.
8. Your password change is complete when the modem has successfully restarted.

Note: If you forget your password, please call 1-877-SBC-DSL5 (877-722-3755). By supplying some basic account verification information, you can receive a new password via our automated system over the phone. Make sure to provide the same information you gave during registration or when you last updated your account.
